No way! I’d never believe this if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes! Imagine you’ve got in front of you an average cigarette box. Nothing out of the ordinary, except the red and gold packet is decorated with the Chinese characters of the famous Chinese Chunghwa brand. Quaint, but not something to write home about… until the proffered cigarettes are pushed back into the pack, the lid clipped shut and the box – or should I say, telephone – is flipped over to reveal a fully functional GSM mobile phone keypad. It’s just like any regular mobile phone UK in that regard, with a camera on the side, full colour display, cute wallpapers, beeps and ringtones. But it’s cleverly designed as a pack with enough room for seven cigarettes. I never thought I’d live to see the day.
Ok, so with the decline of permissible public smoking and the associated health risks, maybe a ciggie case is not the most convenient or essential additional feature, but it can show just what can a
mobile phone offer. But you could always fit some chewing gum or who knows what ever other of life’s little necessities you could put in there.
But get this, the
mobile phone deals out an impressive package to the user. The cigarette box model, the
XYW 3838, has not only the colour screen and VGA camera, but also a microSD card slot and mp3 player. In terms of dimensions, it weighs in at a svelte 72g and measures 92x56x24mm. I'm not a smoker, but I do love kitsch - so I want one!!! When do you think they’ll be available as a
UK mobile phone? European designers of
UK mobile phones pay attention and stuff politically correct health messages – this is one gimmick that we need in the United Kingdom!
